The Philosophy Of Golf In Ninety Five Words

Competition is often compared to wrestling,
a contest with public attention of varying size.
Golf, a more interesting analogy,
confronts players to negotiate weather from existing conditions,
tension from opponents or both.
How they are interpreted could determine
where success or failure lie.

The elements, everything external to self,
including adversaries, change.
Seeing the terrain with confidence,
experience playing the field
and a discriminating eye help face the course,
a location for displaying proficiency.
Always the constant, focus for inspiration,
perhaps reminder of potential failure by missing the mark,
provoked past the challenge to aim then swing.
